Feeling stressed out and depleted with life, I stumbled across Reiki which jumpstarted my self-care regimen

A year ago I had no clue what Reiki was I all I knew was I stressed out at work. I was working 12 hour days and my paycheck amount didn’t look any different than 2 weeks prior. So one raining Saturday, I ordered a book called Essential Reiki: A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art and my coworker told me she just signed up for a class online – next thing I knew I needed to know more.  I signed up for the same online courses and the journey began.

I’ve always been the one to have their full plate of family issues, relationship issues and work drama.  Nothing has been smooth sailing since school and even then family drama and relationship issues took the lions share of bullshit in my life.  Always wanting peace and experiencing it for brief moments in passing like a good one night stand – I’ve spent the majority of my 20’s longing for something fleeting not fully aware I could tap in the whole time.

Reiki –  a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

After practicing Reiki, I found myself more calm in hostile situations, learning how to deal with my emotions which is a job by itself and knowing when to withdraw and focus on myself.  Reiki has also taught me to follow my intuition regardless of how outlandish it may seem and public opinion means nothing when friends and family isn’t in my situation.  Initially, only learning Reiki to help better myself I decided to share my practices on a larger scale going to healing events and partnering with businesses to help others.  If you never had a Reiki session, I suggest you  try it out at least once.  Most people describe it as a peaceful, relaxing experience while some even fall asleep.
